7 Tips for Planning a Last-Minute Trip to Disneyland Paris

Can you plan a trip to Disneyland Paris in under 24 hours?

Not only did we do it, but it turned out to be one of our favorite trips ever. After deciding it was too late to travel that summer, an unexpected turn of events forced us to make all our decisions in a single day: buying Annual Passes, comparing hotels, booking dining reservations, packing our bags... and hitting the road to Disneyland Paris!

If you want the full story, check out our article on how we planned this trip in just one day. Here, we want to share the lessons we learned from that experience—tips we hope will save the day if you ever find yourself planning a last-minute getaway.

1.Don't Give Up on Your Trip Just Yet

It’s easy to assume that if you're only days away from traveling, it’s not even worth checking prices.

That’s exactly what happened to us. We were convinced we’d have to postpone. However, when we finally got the green light to travel, we realized there were still some great options on the table.

Our first lesson was simple: before throwing in the towel, take a few minutes to check what’s actually available. You might be pleasantly surprised.

2.Stay Flexible With Your Itinerary

You don’t always have to visit hotels in a specific order. We shuffled our itinerary around multiple times until we found the combination that best fit our budget.

It took some time, but that extra planning session made a world of difference.

Sometimes, the best choice isn't the cheapest hotel, but rather the combination that best matches the kind of experience you want to have.

3.Keep Refreshing the App

One of the things we were most excited about was having dinner at a few restaurants we hadn’t tried yet.

As soon as our itinerary was locked in, we hit the Disneyland Paris app to hunt for reservations.

Some seemed completely impossible to get, especially Downtown Restaurant.

But we kept checking availability throughout the day... and, right around midnight, a table finally popped up.

Since then, we’ve adopted a golden rule: if a restaurant is fully booked, the search isn't over. We keep checking back because cancellations do happen, and they can turn into amazing opportunities.

4.Do the Math Before Booking a Dining Plan

Disney Dining Plans can be an excellent choice... or not.

It all depends on your travel style.

In our case, we had dining discounts thanks to our Annual Passes, so we sat down and crunched the numbers.

The result was a combo we had never tried before: one night with Half Board, one night with Full Board, and the rest of the trip with no dining plan at all.

There is no single "right" answer. The key is calculating which option best fits how you want to enjoy your trip.

5.Hotel Hopping? Pack by the Day

This was easily the most practical hack of our entire trip.

Since we were sleeping in a different hotel every night, we didn't want to constantly pack and unpack our suitcases.

The solution? We prepped a complete outfit for each day and rolled it up individually. Every morning, we just grabbed the matching clothing roll, threw in our toiletries, and kept the adventure going.

It sounds like a tiny detail, but it saved us a massive amount of time and kept everything perfectly organized.

6.Take Time to Explore the Hotels

When you think of Disneyland Paris, it’s natural to focus entirely on the parks.

However, the Disney Hotels have so much to offer.

During this trip, we made it a point to explore them slowly—admiring the decor, checking out the pools, and completing the Discovery Quests.

It was one of the best decisions we made.

In fact, our favorite Discovery Quest was at Hotel Santa Fe. It made us notice amazing little details we probably would have walked right past otherwise.

7.Don't Wait for the "Perfect" Time to Travel

We would have loved more time to plan.

We also would have loved to buy a small video camera before leaving.

But ultimately, we realized something incredibly important:

If we had waited for everything to be perfect, this trip probably would never have happened.

We improvised, recorded everything on our phones, and soaked up every single second.

Because the "perfect" moment can wait.

Memories can't.

Our Biggest Takeaway

If this trip taught us anything, it’s that great planning doesn't always depend on how much time you have, but on how well you use the time you’ve got.

In under 24 hours, we pulled together an adventure we’ll remember for a long time. Not because it was flawless, but because we adapted, prioritized what we were most excited about, and refused to let the opportunity slip away.

If you ever find yourself planning a Disneyland Paris trip on the fly, we hope these tips help you just as much as they helped us.
