Writing this review turned out to be harder than we expected. Interestingly, until a few months ago, Disney Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel never really caught our eye from a classic 'Disney' perspective. Its rectangular buildings and contemporary vibe made us feel it lacked that quintessential charm we always associate with the resort's hotels. Simply put, we felt it was missing a little pixie dust.

However, when we started this project, we wanted to experience Disneyland Paris through a fresh lens. That meant stepping beyond the parks and truly immersing ourselves in its hotels. We dove into the hotel’s backstory, read all about its incredible art collection, and discovered exactly what makes it so unique. But as our curiosity grew, so did the grand vision in our heads—a vision that ultimately set us up for some slightly skewed expectations.

We arrived eager to see if it was as breathtaking as promised, and more importantly, if its stunning design could still deliver that warm Disney magic we adore. We explored every corner, dined in its restaurants, spent the night, and uncovered some brilliant highlights, a few letdowns, and areas with room to grow. Here is our story:

An Arrival That Dazzles from the Very First Second

We arrived in the afternoon, and the first impression was absolutely fantastic.

The towering structures perfectly capture the thrill of standing before a row of New York City skyscrapers. With clean lines, contemporary architecture, and a sleek blend of materials, it instantly feels wildly different from any other Disney hotel. Even before walking through the doors, the parking area greets you with iconic touches—like the classic yellow New York taxi, which has quickly become a fan-favorite photo op.

Stepping through the main entrance, a crisp, sophisticated signature scent immediately pulls you into the story. That’s the exact moment we understood why this is one of the resort's most premium destinations. Just opposite the reception, three jaw-dropping Iron Man suits and a trio of Captain America shields stand proudly on display, while the sleek Skyline Bar rounds out the scene, inviting you to pause and take in the elegant atmosphere.

Check-in was swift, and the Cast Members were incredibly welcoming. To top it all off, we were sprinkled with a little magic—a complimentary upgrade to a seventh-floor lake-view room, ensuring our stay kicked off in the best possible way.

An Elegant Retreat... But Less High-Tech Than Expected

We really loved the room. It’s spacious, sophisticated, and packed with beautifully woven textures and subtle Marvel nods. Our absolute favorite feature was the TV seamlessly hidden inside the mirror: when powered off, it looks like a standard glass mirror, but turn it on, and the image magically appears out of nowhere.

I had read so much about the hotel's cutting-edge technology that I honestly expected more of these high-tech surprises. However, they were missing, and that feeling of staying in a "hotel of the future" never quite materialized. It’s highly possible those features are reserved for suites or premium club levels, so perhaps my expectations simply didn't align with our Empire State Club room.

That said, there were two comforts we deeply appreciated: the mini-fridge—an absolute lifesaver for keeping drinks cold during the sweltering heat—and an unbelievably quiet air conditioning system that made drifting off to sleep after a long park day an absolute breeze.

Still, not everything was flawless.

The room featured a built-in Bluetooth speaker in the bathroom, a quirky touch we were excited to try. Sadly, we could never get it to pair with our phones. Later, while I was taking a shower, Chris turned on the sink to wash his hands, and the shower water instantly ran cold. It wasn't a dealbreaker, but it was certainly surprising for a hotel of this caliber. While many guests might not even notice, when you book one of the most exclusive retreats at Disneyland Paris, you expect those little hiccups to be ironed out.

Discovery Quests: A New Way to Explore the Hotel

After resting for a bit, we decided to tackle the hotel's Discovery Quests.

To be entirely honest, it wasn't our favorite activity. Coming off the incredibly fun quests at Hotel Santa Fe, these felt a little more 'forced.' Even so, they achieved something wonderful: they guided us through areas of the hotel we probably never would have explored on our own.

Thanks to the scavenger hunt, we discovered spaces like the convention center and brilliant decorative details that would have otherwise completely slipped past our radar.

The Pool... My Biggest Disappointment

I was so excited to check out the Metro Pool, but it ended up being one of the weakest points of our stay.

The vibe felt like a mix between a university lap pool and a subway station, perfectly aligning with the hotel's urban concept. However, the uniform depth of 1.60m (5'3") across the entire pool was a dealbreaker for me. Since I don't know how to swim and am only a few inches taller than that, I never felt comfortable and ultimately decided to stay out. For Chris, the depth meant having to tread water or stand on his tiptoes the whole time. We both agreed that the pool isn't the ultimate relaxation spot—at least not for anyone of average height.

Couple that with another minor inconvenience: finding a working digital locker took both of us quite a while. Again, nothing major, but it’s one of those tiny hurdles that can spark a little frustration when they start adding up.

Manhattan Restaurant: A Dinner of Mixed Emotions

Our first dinner was at the Manhattan Restaurant.

The decor mirrors the rest of the hotel: modern, sleek, and whispering of quiet luxury. Truth be told, it's hard to pin down a single word to describe the aesthetic of Hotel New York, and that applies just as much to this dining room.

The food was absolutely delicious, beautifully presented, and worthy of the hotel’s premium status. Every dish was crafted with care using what felt like top-tier ingredients.

Sadly, the service didn’t quite match the soaring heights of the menu.

We waited about fifteen minutes to be seated, and our table felt a bit awkward, wedged right where two banquettes met. The first two courses arrived promptly, but we ended up waiting nearly half an hour for dessert. It felt as though our waiter had been left to handle far too many tables entirely on his own and was simply overwhelmed.

It wasn't a terrible meal, and we didn't leave with a sour taste in our mouths. But we didn't leave with that radiant, magical smile you'd expect after dining at one of the resort's most exclusive establishments either.

Downtown Restaurant: Exactly What We Hoped For

A couple of nights later, we dined at the Downtown Restaurant, and the experience was night and day.

The space is brighter and adorned with brilliant Marvel character sketches, giving it a vibrant personality of its own. Even though the footprint is smaller, it somehow manages to feel even more exclusive.

From the moment we walked in, the service was impeccable, and the pacing of the meal was an absolute joy. The food was phenomenal, and honestly, there isn't much more to say: we savored every single bite. The buffet is smartly divided into American, Italian, and Asian stations—a delicious nod to the melting pot of New York City. The entire experience proved exactly why this restaurant has earned such a stellar reputation.

The one thing we didn't see eye to eye on were the desserts. Some felt a bit too sweet to me, others slightly too bitter, and as my luck would have it, the one I was most excited to try was flavored with rose essence—a taste that just isn't my cup of tea. 😅 Chris, on the other hand, was in absolute dessert heaven. In fact, Downtown Restaurant officially became his favorite dining spot in the entire resort.

The only tiny area for improvement is the table layout. They are packed quite closely together, which strips away a bit of the dinner's intimacy. You end up sitting closer to your neighbor than your own date.

Skyline Bar 🌃

Breathtaking.

This is one of those spaces where the hotel's concept fires on all cylinders. The massive digital windows and sleek ambiance truly make you feel like you're sipping drinks in an authentic New York penthouse, watching Super Heroes soar through the skyline.

And the cocktails? A perfect 10/10. 👌

If we had to make one wish, it would be for the bar to actually be located on the top floor of the building. We think that would seal the immersive illusion and make the experience even more mind-blowing.

Hero Station: A Unique Experience for Marvel Fans

Another spot you absolutely cannot miss is the Super Hero Station. It offers an incredible chance to snap completely unique photos compared to the usual Disneyland Paris shots, immersing you in spectacular sets dedicated to the most iconic heroes of the Marvel universe. Plus, it is a remarkably calm and quiet space.

During our stay, we booked the exclusive guest meet-and-greet and met Shuri, the Princess of Wakanda, who was utterly delightful. The interaction was so much fun, and we loved every second of it.

However, it was hard not to notice a hint of disappointment among some kids who were hoping to meet Spider-Man, Iron Man, or the heavyweight Avengers. It’s entirely understandable. When you book a Super Hero hotel, it’s only natural to dream that the most famous legends will be the ones welcoming you.

A Must-Do Stop: The Boutique

The boutique might be small, but unlike other resort shops, we found a huge array of exclusive merchandise here that we simply didn't see anywhere else. 🛍 It goes without saying: this is a mandatory pit stop for die-hard Marvel fans and casual admirers alike.

A Location That Changes Everything

If there is one thing that is absolutely undeniable, it’s the location.

Being able to walk to the park gates in a breezy ten minutes completely transforms the rhythm of your trip. You start the day with so much more energy, you can easily pop back to your room for a midday rest, and you maximize every single hour of magic.

It might seem like a secondary perk when booking, but after days of racking up miles in the parks, it makes a monumental difference.

Does It Have That Disney Magic?

This was probably the thought that spun around my head the most during our stay.

The hotel is stunning, filled with meticulously crafted spaces. But more than a hotel, it acts as a contemporary Marvel art gallery that leaves even non-fans completely awestruck.

That being said, we missed that warm, fuzzy "Disney magic" we easily felt at other resort hotels. At times, it almost felt like it pulled us out of the Disneyland Paris bubble.

And that is exactly the essence of this property: while others wrap you in a timeless fairytale, Hotel New York roots you in a real-world city infused with the Marvel universe. For many, that will be its ultimate triumph; for others, the cozy warmth of classic fantasy might feel notably absent.

If you are a die-hard Marvel fan, this will undoubtedly be an epic, mind-blowing experience. If, like us, you crave a warmer, cozier environment draped in classic Disney whimsy, you might walk away with slightly mixed feelings.

Would We Stay Here Again?

Yes, without a doubt. But we would return knowing exactly what we are walking into: a sleek, modern, perfectly located hotel with a fantastic Marvel immersion that shatters the "fairytale" mold to deliver "cosmopolitan luxury."

Because, in the end, there is no single perfect hotel for everyone. There is only the perfect hotel for the story your family wants to live.
