DISNEYLAND PARIS

8/28/20267 min read

If you are planning a trip to Disneyland Paris arriving on or after April 1, 2027, you are going to encounter a completely revamped dining system.

And yes: the first time you see the official breakdown—with its tiers, charts, restaurants, and vouchers—it can look a lot more complicated than it actually is. 😅

But don’t worry. Nubi already has her planner out, Mochu is daydreaming about what to eat, and we are going to break it all down for you step by step. ☁️🦝

The goal is that by the end of this guide, you’ll be able to look at the four tiers and instantly know which one fits your trip perfectly, without having to study the official Disneyland Paris charts for hours.

First Things First: Does This Affect Me?

Only if your stay begins on or after April 1, 2027.

If you are traveling before that date, the current meal plans still apply, and these changes do not affect you.

The new plans will be available to book starting mid-September 2026, for arrivals between April 1, 2027, and March 31, 2028.

So, if your trip falls within those dates, keep reading. 👇

The Core Concept, In One Sentence

The single most important thing you need to understand is this:

The new plans work like a restaurant ladder.

There are 4 tiers:
🟢 Essential
🔵 Extra
🟣 Signature
👑 Royal

Each tier includes all the restaurants from the tier below it, while adding new options.

Simply put: you are not choosing between four completely separate groups of restaurants. The higher you climb the ladder, the more restaurants are included.

Understanding that one tiny detail makes everything else so much easier.

How to Build Your Plan, Step by Step

To choose your plan, you only need to make three decisions.

1.Do you want breakfast included?

Breakfast is now selected separately.

You can add:
• Breakfast in the parks or Disney Village:
€14 per person.
• Breakfast at your Disney Hotel: Adding it to your meal plan saves you up to
17% compared to paying upon arrival.

And remember: you are not required to add breakfast to purchase a meal plan.

2.How many meals do you want?

You can choose:

  • 1 meal per night → lunch or dinner

  • 2 meals per night → lunch and dinner

If you choose two meals, the price per meal drops compared to only booking one.

This is where you need to think about your family's travel style.

If your goal is to sit down, relax, and enjoy a full lunch and dinner every single day, opting for two meals makes sense. If you prefer to wing it with snacks, pack your own food, or grab quick bites off the plan, one meal per night might be plenty.

3.Where do you want to eat?

This is where the four tiers come in.

Which plans can you choose based on your hotel?

🏨 Essential and Extra
Available to guests staying at Disney Hotels and Partner Hotels, except the Disneyland Hotel.

🟣 Signature
Available to guests staying at all Disney Hotels and Partner Hotels, including the Disneyland Hotel.

👑 Royal
Available exclusively to guests staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

💡 Important note if you are staying at a Partner Hotel: You can choose Essential, Extra, or Signature, but only with the 1 meal per night option.

The Restaurant List, Tier by Tier

Here is a downloadable list featuring every restaurant included in each meal plan, so you can easily compare them and find the perfect match for your trip.

Restaurant List

Restaurants Not Included in the Plans

Not every dining location is included.

Spots like Casey's Corner, Café de la Brousse, or The Ice Cream Company must be paid for separately out of pocket, regardless of which tier you book.

This is crucial to remember because "having a meal plan" does not mean absolutely everything you eat at the resort is covered.

How the Vouchers Work

This part sounds overly complicated when reading the official fine print, but it’s actually incredibly simple.

When you book a plan, your designated vouchers are loaded directly onto your MagicPass.

The rule is:
• 1 meal per night = 1 voucher per person, per night
• 2 meals per night = 2 vouchers per person, per night

But these vouchers are not tied to a specific day.

For example, if you have 8 vouchers for a four-night stay, you can choose exactly when to use them based on your itinerary.

And yes, you can use them on your departure day.

What does each voucher cover?

At a table-service restaurant, it includes at a minimum:
• Starter + main course, or
• Main course + dessert

At a quick-service restaurant:
• Main course with a side dish

At a buffet:
• All-you-can-eat buffet access
• Plus one soft drink

⚠️ Very Important: Having a voucher does not mean you have a restaurant reservation.

The plan covers the cost of the food. The table must be booked separately. And for the most popular restaurants, you absolutely need to book as soon as your reservation window opens.

Two Tips to Help You Save
  1. Book breakfast before you arrive
If you know for a fact you want to eat breakfast at your hotel, booking it in advance can save you up to 17%.

  2. Compare the price of one vs. two meals
If you know you are going to eat both lunch and dinner at included restaurants every day, the 2 meals per night option brings down the cost per meal.

But don't just pick it automatically.

💡 Nubi's Tip: A meal plan only saves you money if you actually use it.

What If I Want to Dine with Mickey or the Princesses?

This is where the biggest confusion usually happens.

Disney Character Dining is only fully included in the Royal plan. And the Royal plan can only be booked if you are staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

But that does not mean you have to stay there to dine with characters.

If you have the Essential, Extra, or Signature plan, you can book a Disney Character Dining experience and use your voucher for its monetary value. That amount is deducted from the total cost of the experience, and you simply pay the difference.

To break it down:
Royal = experience fully included.
Other tiers = voucher deducted + you pay the difference.

So, don't book the Royal plan thinking it’s the only way to eat with Disney Characters, because it isn't.

So… Which Tier Should I Choose?

There is no "best" tier for everyone.

It heavily depends on how you travel.

🟢 Essential is a great fit if you want to keep your budget in check, prefer keeping meals simple, and don't have a list of must-do specialty restaurants.

🔵 Extra strikes a fantastic balance if you love buffets and want a solid variety of choices without paying top-tier prices.

🟣 Signature makes perfect sense if iconic spots like Walt's, Captain Jack's, Bistrot Chez Rémy, or Downtown Restaurant are absolute must-dos on your list.

👑 Royal is designed for Disneyland Hotel guests who want to seamlessly integrate Disney Character Dining experiences right into their plan.

The question we would ask ourselves before choosing would be:

"Where do we actually want to eat during this trip?"

And only then would we check which plan covers those restaurants.

Because starting with the price of a plan and then trying to mold your trip to fit it usually leads to much more frustration than doing it the other way around.

A Real-World Example to Help You Choose

Let’s look at a family of four staying at Disney Newport Bay Club for 4 nights.

Before picking a plan, they make a list of the restaurants they are most excited about:
• PYM Kitchen
• Restaurant Agrabah Café
• The Steakhouse
• The Lucky Nugget Saloon
• Plus, they want to try a few Disney Hotel buffets.

Now comes the crucial part: they don't start by comparing prices. Instead, they look for the lowest tier that includes all those restaurants.

The Lucky Nugget Saloon is already included in the Essential tier, but PYM Kitchen, Restaurant Agrabah Café, The Steakhouse, and the buffets at Disney Newport Bay Club and Disney Sequoia Lodge are part of the Extra tier.

Therefore, for this family, the Essential plan would fall short, while Extra already includes every single restaurant they want to try.

There is no need for them to upgrade to Signature because, as of right now, none of their must-do restaurants belong exclusively to that top tier.

The only thing left to decide is how many meals they want per night.

In this scenario, since they plan on eating both lunch and dinner at the plan’s restaurants, opting for Extra with 2 meals per night would be their perfect match.

The Bottom Line

If you take away just one thing from this guide, let it be this: think of the four tiers as a ladder, not as four separate boxes. Every rung you climb simply adds more restaurants and experiences.

You don't need to climb all the way to the top just because a higher tier exists.

The absolute best option is the one that includes the restaurants you genuinely want to visit, with a meal frequency that naturally fits how you want to experience Disneyland Paris.

That is the ultimate goal: make the plan fit your trip, not the other way around. ☁️✨

Not sure if a restaurant is included in your plan?

With the new meal plans, it can be easy to get lost between the different tiers, included restaurants and options available with a surcharge. That’s why we’ve created a tool to help you check everything quickly.

Simply select your plan — Essential, Extra, Signature or Royal — and search for the restaurant you’re interested in. The tool will tell you whether:

  • it is included in your plan,

  • you can use your plan with a surcharge,

  • or it is not included.

This makes it easier to compare your options before booking and plan your meals with much more clarity.
