Reaching for the Clouds
Everything We Know About the Upcoming Up Attraction ⭐
DISNEYLAND PARIS

Some movies do more than just tell a story. They remind us that dreams don't have an expiration date.
If you’ve ever felt a lump in your throat watching Carl and Ellie’s house float away under thousands of colorful balloons, we’ve got some news you’ll definitely want to add to your adventure book: in 2027, a brand-new "Up" inspired ride will land at Disney Adventure World in Disneyland Paris.
And yes... it promises to be just as heartwarming as the movie it’s based on. 💛
⛺ An Adventure with Russell and the Wilderness Explorers
The new attraction will be called Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings and will anchor Adventure Way, the lush, landscaped promenade connecting the new lands of Disney Adventure World.
If you’ve seen Up, the name will ring a bell. The Wilderness Explorers are the adventurous scout troop Russell belongs to—always ready to help out, explore, and earn a new badge.
The storyline of the ride invites us to do exactly that: become explorers for a day and earn the prestigious Aviation Badge as we soar through the skies to the unforgettable soundtrack of the film.
Because, at the end of the day... adventure is out there.
☁ What Will the Experience Be Like?
While it’s a spin on the classic flying wave swingers that have been around for over a century, Disney is building a heavily themed, deeply immersive version.
Guests will board elegant suspended seats that will slowly rise and gracefully spin over Adventure Way.
The real magic is that the entire upper canopy structure will tilt during the ride, intensifying the sensation of flight and making you feel as though you are truly floating among the clouds.
It’s a gentle family adventure, perfect for anyone who loves breezy rides with a heavy dose of Disney magic.
🎈 A Design Packed with 'Up' Details
As always with Disney Imagineers, the magic is in the details.
The attraction will blend Art Nouveau styling with industrial touches, directly inspired by the movie's aesthetic. Expect wrought-iron structures, balloon and cloud motifs, and plenty of hidden Easter eggs for eagle-eyed fans.
But our absolute favorite detail sits right at the very top of the ride.
A golden weather vane shaped like Carl and Ellie's iconic house will crown the structure, creating a clever visual dialogue with a neighboring ride: Rapunzel's Tangled Spin, where Pascal can be spotted perched on the roof.
It’s one of those tiny secrets that makes Disney parks feel like living, interconnected worlds.
📖 A Queue That Tells a Story
Disney doesn't want the adventure to start when you sit in the seat.
They want it to start much sooner.
The queue will be split into various spaces inspired by key moments from Up, allowing guests to walk through and relive some of the film's most beloved memories.
Some of the props we can expect to see include:
• Carl's vintage aviator helmet and goggles from when he was a kid.
• Ellie’s famous adventure book.
• Pennants and decorative gear inspired by the Wilderness Explorers.
• Nods to the travels, discoveries, and dreams that defined Carl and Ellie’s life together.
It sounds like the kind of line you’ll actually want to walk through slowly.
🌿 A New Themed Garden in Adventure Way
The ride isn't arriving on its own.
It will be nestled within a brand-new Up-themed garden, a lush green space where guests can wander and unwind between adventures.
This perfectly aligns with the philosophy of Adventure Way: a space designed to let you enjoy the journey, not just the destination.
A quiet corner to pause for a few minutes, take in the details, and let your imagination do the rest.
✨ The Future of Disney Adventure World is Taking Shape
Construction on Wilderness Explorers Sky Swings officially kicked off in late 2025, playing a major role in the massive transformation currently sweeping through Disneyland Paris' second gate.
Every new piece of concept art confirms what we at Nubo Journeys have believed for a while:
Disney Adventure World won't just be an expansion.
It will be a completely reinvented park.
And amidst the massive immersive lands and blockbuster additions, we absolutely love that there is still room for experiences like this: small, family-friendly, and full of heart.
Because some adventures don't require dragons, superheroes, or giant roller coasters.
Sometimes, all you need is a few balloons, a promise, and the desire to keep dreaming.
